Winner of the 2012 "Juergen Mulert Memorial Award on Mutual Understanding" is Christopher Janosch Delcker with his project "Urban Observations". 

The video project portraying people in New York and Berlin effectively foster William Fulbright's idea of "waging peace through mutual understanding".

September 11, 2011 marked the 10th anniversary of the terrible terrorist attacks in New York and Washington, D.C. To commemorate this event and analyze its aftermath, the German Fulbright Alumni Association joined the Amerika Haus e.V. NRW in its organization of a matinee with bestselling author Tariq Ali.

The event took place in the former building of the Amerika Haus in Cologne (now operated by the Fritz Thyssen Stiftung). It included a talk by Ali, a discussion moderated by Fulbrighter and Deutsche Welle host Brent Goff, and a reception where guests could continue the discussion with Ali.
